About The Program

Department of Public Relations and Publicity (English)

Public relations practices, whose origins date back to ancient times, became a professional discipline in the 20th century. Public relations is applied in various sectors and industries. The focus of public relations is to build lasting relationships and positive reputations with an organization's stakeholder groups through communication in order to achieve mutual benefit. Strategic communication activities that protect the interests of both the public and the institution and enable two-way interaction can only be carried out by public relations professionals who are experts in their field.

A well-trained public relations expert closely follows the political, social, and economic agenda and has in-depth knowledge in many areas. They quickly grasp the dynamics of the digital world and have no difficulty adapting to it. They follow global trends, anticipate potential threats and opportunities, and prevent damage to the relationship between the institution and the public. They act with ethical values at the forefront and contribute positively to the interests of both the public and the institution. The primary goal of our Public Relations and Advertising Department, accredited by the Communication Education Evaluation and Accreditation Board (İLEDAK) in 2020, is to train public relations specialists with the aforementioned qualities and skills. In line with this, our undergraduate program includes courses in a wide range of fields, from sociology to political science, economics to art. To enhance students' understanding of the sector, some courses are taught by professionals holding key positions in the industry. As a result, our students, who master both theory and practice, quickly become public relations experts capable of managing the reputation of organizations in the global arena.

In today's world, where communication evolves in new directions every day and new media technologies are replacing traditional media environments, institutions and organizations rely on public relations practices to sustain their existence. Therefore, it is quite clear that in the near future, the need for well-trained public relations specialists will increase along with the prestige of the profession.
